Oktoberfest and Bethlehem Harvest Festival, Bethlehem PA

Jay and I spent most of our Saturday between Bethlehem's Oktoberfest at SteelStacks and the Bethlehem Harvest Festival on Main Street. It was a perfect fall day. It was warm, but not hot and humid. The crowds were big, but not like Musikfest and Celtic Classic crowds. Everything was perfect, or so I thought...

When I came home and offloaded my photographs, I discovered that I hit some button on my camera that adjusted the tint. All of my pictures were blue! I wanted to post photos of my lunch from Oktoberfest, but they were ruined. I had a Krainerwurst sandwich with sauerkraut and sweet mustard, and Jay and I split a funnel cake. I haven't had one of those for at least two years. I know that it's not a diet friendly food, but it was so very tasty. The scoop of rum raisin ice cream I had later in the day wasn't exactly low calorie either, but by then the heat of the day was getting to me. I even got a little sunburned.

Here are a few of Jay's photographs from both venues.

I think I'd have enjoyed the Harvest Festival even more if I'd purchased a ticket to taste the various soups that were available. Jay probably would have enjoyed the beer and wine tasting. I did buy two mint chocolate chip cookies from a vendor named ♥cookie and a shortcake/citrus/nut bar from Jumbars.

To offset all of the food I ate, I walked quite a bit more than normal. We parked our car at SteelStacks and walked to Oktoberfest. After we ate, we walked across the Fahey Bridge to get to Main Street. We walked up Main Street and back down again, finally going down to Sand Island. We walked along the canal until we got to the Minsi Trail Bridge, which we took to get back to the south side of Bethlehem. We walked down Third Street until we were back at Oktoberfest.

According to my Fitbit, I walked 17,283 steps on Saturday, for a total of 7.32 miles. It's not my personal best, but it's one of my top 3 most active days. My feet are hurting a little, but at least I'm not regretting the funnel cake and ice cream.
